    Other learning modules can be swapped in but these may take different amounts of time.

    We will design a session plan with you prior to any booking confirmation being made.

Learning Modules

  • Friction Fire

    The bow-drill takes some patience to learn but provides the successful user with a sense of empowerment. A skill forgotten by most in the modern age.

  • Tool Use

    Guidance on safe and appropriate use of edged and blunt tools in addition to maintenance and care.

  • Water Processing

    Insight into various different ways to collect, filter and purify water from different sources.

  • Tinders

    Where to find and how to use a range of both natural and artificial tinders for effective firelighting.

  • Nature Walks

    A way to truly connect with nature. There is always something to observe and to learn, sometimes you just need to know how to look.

  • Natural Cordage

    Often overlooked as a skill, cordage is frequently the most popular learning area. Leaves, roots, bark and even sinew can be made into cordage with varying properties and uses.

  • Tree Identification

    Combining observations of leaves, bark, growth patterns, fruit and silhouette allow all-year round identification. Tree species differ greatly in what they provide and how they can be treated.

  • Fire Lighting & Management

    Looking at how to use more common tinders, how to find and use different dry kindling and utilise good sources of fuel wood for effective fire, even in poor weather.

  • Fire-Based Cooking

    The art of cooking with fire is exciting and surprisingly intuitive. Knowing when to use flame or embers is important, mastery comes with knowing properties of different woods.

  • Natural Navigation

    Although not needed in the day to day life of most, being able to find compass points using the sun, the moon, stars and natural features would definitely be an important skill the moment it was required.

  • Shelter & Sleep Systems

    Natural and artificial shelters both have pros and cons. Learn about how to raise different configurations including hammocks and ground setups.

  • Plants & Funghi

    Learn about how to look for some of the different plants and funghi over the seasons and their possible uses.

  • Crafting

    From gadgets to furniture, ornaments to utensils, crafting from natural materials is an enjoyable and often useful activity while spending time in woodlands.

  • Wilderness Living

    Bringing all of the skills together is the point of contextualisation. It is at this point where it becomes clear that ‘out there’ is actually the real world.
